Ono Cheese Steak started because Jared (da little guy) fell in love with philly cheese steak sandwiches. We opened the first Ono Cheese Steak in Downtown Honolulu on Bishop and Hotel in 2005. By the end of 2005, there were 3 locations to include Downtown, University and Waikiki. Ono Cheese Steak was also participating as a vendor at events such as “Sunset on the Beach” and also had concession stands at Aloha Stadium serving fans during UH football and the annual NFL Pro Bowl.

In 2006, Ono Cheese Steak began to deliver Ono Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches to retail outlets on the Island of Oahu. Ono Cheese Steak‘s wholesale customer includes military organizations such as MCCS, AAFES, NEX, DeCa and non military customers such as Aloha Gas Island Mini Marts, Tesoro, Chevron, Shell and Union 76 gas stations.

In 2010, ono cheese steak opened a new location at the windward mall food court.
